Finishing Touches on CV’s Haunted Jail

By Mary O’KEEFE

Volunteers are working non-stop to construct the Haunted Jail this year. Themed “Bed (lam) Time Stories,” a twisted view of fairy tale and bedtime stories that normally would chase away nightmares but instead, over this weekend, will create nightmares.

There will be a twilight show on Saturday, along with a costume contest and game booths, that is geared for younger guests.

Although the Haunted Jail is part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept.- Crescenta Valley Station, the event is really a community effort that includes deputies, station staff, community members, CERT [Community Emergency Response Team] members and local students.

The Haunted Jail is on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the Twilight Show and Halloween Carnival ¬– on Saturday only – from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets for adults are $7 pre-sale and $8 at the door. Kids ages 3 to 10 are $4 pre-sale and $5 at the door. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at the CVW office, 3800 La Crescenta Ave., Ste. 101 and at Sunday’s Harvest Market.

The CV Sheriff’s Station is located at 4554 Briggs Ave. in La Crescenta.
