Waste Pickup Dates

Waste collection services will not be provided by Burrtec or the City of Glendale on Christmas Day, Dec. 25 or on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2019. During this time, residents should place containers out the day after their normal collection day (except for those whose pickup is normally on Monday). Tuesday pickup will be on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday.

Christmas tree recycling will begin for City of Glendale on Jan. 2 and run through Feb. 16. Recycling for Burrtec customers will take place on scheduled collection days beginning Dec. 26 through Jan. 12. Customers are reminded to remove all decorations, including ornaments, lights and tinsel. Trees more than eight feet tall in the City of Glendale should be cut in half; trees in the Burrtec area longer than six feet must be cut in half. If the tree is cut into small pieces, it may fit into the yard trimmings container. Place trees at the curb on regular collection days. If possible, a crew will pick up the tree within a few days. However, when demand is extremely high, service can take up to two weeks.

Rosemont Preserve Docent-
Led Tour

All are invited to join wildlife photographer and expert tracker Johanna Turner for a tour through the Rosemont Preserve. Turner helps the National Park Service track and document mountain lions in the Verdugo Mountains.

Learn what to look for when taking a stroll in the wild and the differences between animal tracks. Because of the intimate nature of this tour, group size will be limited. Those who would like to attend can RSVP to RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.

For further information, contact the Friends of the Rosemont Preserve at RosemontFriends@gmail.com.
