Fairies, gnomes, unicorns and dragons descended on Mountain Avenue Elementary for the Enchanted Forest Book Fair – despite the downpour of rain. Students shopped once with their class, and could also shop during recess as well. 

Different nights of the book fair had different themes. On Dec. 5 was the Book Fair Family Night. Kids dressed up in costumes, such as fairies, gnomes, dragons and unicorns. There were raffle tickets and prizes, a photo booth, fun books and accessories, and a dessert table. Kids loved picking out their books. Several teachers, including Amber Hall and Christina Haydt, read books to the students throughout the special evening. The event was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

On Dec. 6, it was Dragons and Donuts at the Book Fair. Parents and kids could shop in the morning before school, and enjoy a breakfast of donuts, muffins, fruit and orange juice, courtesy of the PTA.

The co-chairs who organized the Enchanted Forest Book Fair were Kathy Necus and Mona Mead. PTA volunteers were on hand, dressed as unicorns or fairies, to help students pick out their books and ring them up at the cash registers. The proceeds from the book fair funds new books for teacher classrooms and the school library.
