The California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans) advises motorists that the Interstate 5 (Golden State Freeway) northbound off-ramp at Buena Vista Street in Burbank will be closed to 6 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13.
The closure is necessary for crews to reconstruct the off-ramp as part of the I-5 widening and improvement project in Burbank. A detour will be provided while the off-ramp is closed.
In addition, the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Buena Vista Street will be closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 to 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. A detour will be provided.
These scheduled closures involve only the northbound ramps at Buena Vista Street. Southbound I-5 off- and on-ramps at Buena Vista Street are not affected.
The schedule is weather-permitting and is subject to change.
The I-5 Empire Project is a series of improvements to the I-5 freeway in Burbank between Magnolia Boulevard and Hollywood Way, including carpool lanes, a new interchange at Empire Avenue, elevated railroad tracks to eliminate at-grade crossings, reconfigured ramps, widening of the Burbank Boulevard Bridge and more. Security Paving Co. Inc. of Sylmar is the contractor on the project.
