Puddle of Mudd performed at The Canyon at the Rose in Pasadena on Friday night. Fans were treated to the bands’ hits such as “Famous,” “Blurry” and “She Hates Me.”

“She still f****** hates me, believe me,” said founding member and lead singer Wes Scantlin to the audience.

Many in the crowd throughout the night pulled out their own air instruments and rocked along with the band. In addition to their own hits, Puddle of Mudd covered the Black Sabbath song “War Pigs,” much to the delight of the audience.

“Not sure why all you guys are sitting, but sit down and enjoy your night,” invited Scantlin.

The Rose is mostly composed of table seating with a dance floor-sized area of standing room behind the front row seats. Concertgoers can sit directly in front of the stage, along the side or in the back of the venue in a raised section. One of the best things about The Rose is its large stage that is nearly visible from every point in the room, except perhaps for some seating on the side. Those seats can be partially obstructed by building supports and fans standing in the general admission section.

The Rose opened in 2016 and seats roughly 1,300 people. The club made its home in a pre-existing structure in the Paseo shopping complex that was once a Gelson’s Market. This is not the first Canyon-owned venue that previously sold food; the Canyon in Santa Clarita, a sister club to The Rose, was once a Red Robin.

The Rose does require audience members who purchase tickets at tables to arrive for dinner by 7 p.m. The Rose offers a full menu of dining options from quinoa salads to porterhouse steaks. For those who do not want to purchase dinner, there are plenty of dining options at the Paseo, located right next door. The Rose even validates parking from the Paseo parking complex.

Within the Rose there are three bars, two on either side of the venue and one in the lobby. All serve various beers, wines and cocktails. The lobby also has plenty of seating, including one spot on a mechanical bull.

The Rose is part of a bigger concert venue group owned by Sterling Venue Ventures. It owns five other venues throughout SoCal, including a venue in Ojai.

Scantlin kept quiet most of the evening, hardly straying from simply thanking the audience after performing each song. There has been no word on new music from the band, despite that it has not released an album since its 2011 cover album “re:(disc)overed.”

Although there was no indication of new music in the making during the performance, it was reported by Blabbermouth.net that Puddle of Mudd is planning on releasing a new album this year, giving fans something to look forward to.

The band’s last original album was released in 2009, its fourth major label album. Puddle of Mudd found platinum success in the early 2000s with the albums “Come Clean” and “Life on Display.”
