Hello, CV Weekly Readers! Hope you are all able to stay warm and relatively dry. Before we go any further I wanted to let you all know that the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual bingo game on Saturday, Feb. 23 at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with food and beverage available and the first game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. In addition to tickets, which can be purchased in the Chamber office at 3131 Foothill ‘D,’ we also have sponsorship opportunities still available. Tickets are $20 each and include four cards for each of 10 games and one dauber, which is a great deal because each game will pay out $100 cash!
Every March the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Mary Pinola Foundation hold our annual Smart-A-Thon to raise money for our education fund! This year’s competition of brains and wit will be held on Wednesday, March 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and once again USC/Verdugo Hills Hospital will be the gracious hosts. We still have tables available to sponsor and plenty of open spots to be placed on a team for interested individual players. If you have any questions, please give us a call in the Chamber office (818) 248-4957 or stop by the office to pick up your entry form today!
Finally, I would like to take a moment to introduce our newest business member, Nona Janszyan-Ordubegian of Serene Hospice Care, Inc. Nona has a background as a therapist so she understands the true meaning of care giving and all that is involved. At Serene, they understand that some people have no one left and need emotional support or, at the very least, someone to talk to. Nona prides herself on having a team of professionals who is happy to provide that. In an effort to set herself and Serene apart from the pack, Nona made sure to hire nurses who live in the La Crescenta area to make it quicker and easier to spend more time with their patients. The strongest example of what Serene represents can be found in one recent story. As you know, the federal government was recently shut down for a period of time. One of Serene’s patients is a veteran who has a family. With the shutdown the funds for this individual had stopped. Serene’s team stepped in without a second thought and bought groceries for this family during the shutdown. Nona and Serene Hospice have assembled a team of good local people doing good for the community.
