The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the victim of a fatal accident on Angeles National Forest Highway on Saturday.

Carl Raggio IV, 40, from Santa Clarita died due to blunt trauma, according to the LA Coroner spokeswoman.

California Highway Patrol received the call at 1:15 p.m. reporting a car over the side on the ANF Highway at mile marker 18.70.

“The accident involved a solo occupant, a male, in a Subaru,” said CHP Sgt. Kevin Denmon. “The vehicle was traveling southbound on the Angeles National Forest Highway when for an unknown reason the driver lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.”

His vehicle went over a cliff about 300 feet, Denmon said.

Raggio was wearing a seatbelt. There does not appear to be any other vehicle involved. The investigation is ongoing by CHP.

Raggio, grandson of former Glendale City Councilmember and mayor Carl Raggio, was also known as “C” to his family. He graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita. He went on to work for Cartoon Network until 2008 as a character designer and story artist on shows, including “Camp Lazlo” (2005) and “The Marvelous Adventures of Flapjack” (2008), and was a freelancer for PBS as a story artist for the show “The Zula Patrol” (2005).

In 2010, C joined Disney TV Animation and worked on shows including “Kick Buttowski,” “Gravity Falls” and “Wonder Over Yonder.” During that time, he also did freelance work for Nickelodeon and Renegade Animation. He began working for Illumination Entertainment in 2015 and earned credits on the recently released “The Grinch” movie and worked on the 2015 “Minions” movie. His recent work included the film “Angry Birds 2” at Sony Pictures.

C was a beloved and exemplary son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, boyfriend, friend and teacher of so many things. He took care of others and loved helping others to grow. He was an outdoor and automobile enthusiast with a well-established love and knowledge of cars. He spent time following Formula 1 racing and under the hood and behind the wheel of his Subaru.

C is remembered by Sadie Figueroa, his girlfriend of 18 years; father Carl W. Raggio III; late mother Susan Raggio; stepmother Mary Raggio; grandparents Marilyn and Carl W. Raggio; brothers Peter and Andrew; sisters Christina, Jennifer and Katie; Aunt Lisa Raggio; Uncle Paul Raggio; and Patterson family; nephew and nieces; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family said services for Carl Raggio IV are pending.
