The Crescenta Valley High School Career Fair took place on Monday, providing high school students with the chance to see some potential career opportunities. The event took place from noon until 3 p.m. on the school campus and allowed students to explore over 40 different booths occupied by representatives of various businesses. During lunch, students were allowed to freely explore but before and after lunch, few teachers released their students from class.

“I think it went pretty well,” said Ron Scott, the coordinator of the event.

Another popular booth was the Army recruiting booth, which occasionally had students doing pushups.

An assortment of career booths offered information on a variety of different fields ranging from law enforcement to business to sciences to the entertainment industry.

One popular booth among students was the booth representing Fox Animation with Simpsons animator Kevin M. Newman.

“The more knowledge you have of everything, the better you are,” said Newman.

This was Newman’s first time at the CVHS Career Fair and he came well equipped with information on school and career paths for the students.

Another highly visited booth was the JPL booth, which was represented by Joe Guinn and Molly Shelton. Although their information was intended to help upperclassmen, Guinn and Shelton were both surprised at the number of freshman who showed interest in careers at JPL.

Next year, Scott hopes to be able to present a more streamlined version of the fair for students, enabling them to go faster to the booths they are interested in.
