Glendale Youth Orchestra Performs at Alex Theatre

The Glendale Youth Orchestra, conducted by Brad Keimach, performs the 30th anniversary season finale concert on Sunday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. The program will feature Mozart – overture to The Magic Flute; Bach – Air; Mendelssohn – Violin Concerto, 1st movement. Violinist Jaimie Yoon, a junior at CV High School and the 2019 concerto winner, will perform Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, 1st movement.

This concert will be the last for GYO conductor Brad Keimach who will put down the baton after 19 seasons with the GYO. Keimach is retiring after more than 30 years as a music educator and conductor.

The GYO is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. This project is funded in part by a grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.

Tickets for the May 19 performance are $15 and may be purchased from the Alex Theatre box office. Students, children and seniors may purchase tickets for $12. Groups of 15 or more get 15% off. Formed in 1989 by a group of Glendale music lovers and school teachers, the Glendale Youth Orchestra attracts talented young musicians in grades six through 12 and college music programs from across Los Angeles and the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys.
