The offices of Crescenta Valley Weekly will be closed on Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday.
Public Hearing on VHGC

Planning Commission is holding a public meeting today, May 23, at 8:30 a.m. at the Van Nuys City Hall Council Chamber, second floor. The meeting is about the proposed development of the property by Snowball West Investments that was the previous site of the Verdugo Hills Golf Course.
Van Nuys City Hall is located at 14410 Sylvan St. in Van Nuys.
Memorial Day Observances
The Montrose Memorial Day ceremony will be on Monday, May 27 beginning precisely at 7:30 a.m. It will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the northwest corner of Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard.
There is also a ceremony at Two Strike Park, 5017 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta, at 8 a.m. that is overseen by local veterans.
CVCA Meets Tonight
The Crescenta Valley Commun-ity Association will have its
monthly meeting tonight, Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. The CVCA is a cross-jurisdictional, volunteer organization that encourages collaboration between community groups so that the Crescenta Valley can be represented with one voice. Please join us at the La Crescenta Library at 2809 Foothill Blvd. in the community room (entrance off La Crescenta Avenue).

Rosemont Preserve Docent Led Tour
All are invited to the Rosemont Preserve on Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. when wildlife educator Dana Stangel of Teranga Ranch will give an informative talk about living with wildlife in local foothill communities. Stangel is a credentialed biology teacher and an urban wildlife specialist. She has worked with both domesticated animals and wildlife for over 20 years and is the executive director of Teranga Ranch, a wildlife education organization.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages, no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta. Wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail and bring water.
