New ALG Board Installed

Anne Wilson and Kathy Prosser presented Claire Collins (seated) with the prestigious Ada Edwards Laughlin Award for outstanding service to Assistance League® Glendale.

The Assistance League of Glendale (ALG) installed its new board on May 14 at the Oakmont Country Club. President Marcie Haug relinquished the gavel to new President Karen Saunders at the club’s annual meeting for installation of new officers. The organization, which last year celebrated its 75th year of service to the community, addresses the needs of the community by providing clothing and supplies to Glendale students, scholarships to high school seniors, subsidized lunches for seniors, support for Ascencia homeless shelter, the Healthy Start Food Bank, and the Women’s Shelter at the YWCA. ALG also encourages reading by bringing authors and illustrators into the elementary school classrooms, and funds book purchases for school libraries.

Marice Haug, outgoing president, hands over the gavel to incoming president Karen Saunders.
