County Exploring Program Offering Storage for Homeless
The County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a motion by Supervisor Kathryn Barger directing county agencies to explore a pilot storage program for homeless individuals, similar to Orange County and San Diego.
Barger cited a reduction of risk to public heath and safety as two of the reasons behind the motion.
The Chief Executive Office will work on a plan for implementation with the Depts. of Public Health and Public Works, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, and other agencies and will report back in 90 days with additional recommendations.
In addition to the programs cited above, the City of Los Angeles runs a Safe Storage Program at El Pueblo that utilizes a similar model. At least two other cities, Paramount and Burbank, are proposing safe storage programs to be supported by their Measure H allocation.

Los Angeles County Achieves Historic High Credit Rating
Los Angeles County achieved its overall highest credit rating in its recorded history after a leading global credit rating agency, Fitch Ratings, increased the County’s long-term credit rating from AA to AA+. Fitch Ratings joins two other leading national credit ratings firms, Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings Service and Moody’s Investors Service, in determining that L.A. County’s long-term financial outlook is strong and positive. Fitch attributed the credit ratings upgrade to the combined strength of L.A. County’s continued solid revenue streams, strong economic base, moderately low long-term liability burden and the ongoing progress toward addressing unfunded pension liabilities.
This is the third time one of the credit rating agencies has increased L.A. County’s ratings under the leadership of the current board of supervisors and chief executive officer.
