The students at Our Lady of Lourdes kicked off a recent morning with their annual end of the year Field Day.
“Field Day is a fun way to get the kids exercising and working together in collaborative games,” said Principal Evelyn Cortes. “It’s a way to say goodbye to the school year and hello to summer.”
All grades took to the field rotating among fun activities such as relay races, jump rope, dodge ball, volleyball, Hula Hoops and more. Kids were creative not just by jumping, but doing push-up jumps as demonstrated by seventh grader Ashley Garcia. Outstanding teamwork was shown when a number of eighth grade students jumped simultaneously in one line.
This year the morning fun ended with a chance to “tape the principal to a wall.”
“Field Day teaches our students the importance of being physically active and working together,” said Cortes.
Working together they were able to successfully tape Principal Cortes to a wall; she was covered in multi-colored duct tape alongside eighth grade teacher Ben Freeman.
