Hundreds of people are expected this weekend at the McGroarty Arts Center for its second annual Art Fair that will feature student and professionally created artwork, crafts and other original creations.

A fun, creative, festive local spot that is family-friendly can be found at McGroarty Arts Center in Tujunga this weekend. The Center is hosting its 2nd annual June Art Fair on June 22 and June 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Art Fair features products by McGroarty’s current students, community artists and local craftspeople. There will also be a crafts and ceramic show plus live music, and food available for purchase. Admission to the event is free.

“The Art Fair is a co-sponsored event with the Dept. of Cultural Affairs of Los Angeles and the McGroarty Arts Center,” Geis said. “The purpose is to get people to come up to McGroarty and have a fun time.”
The Art Fair is also an opportunity for local artists and craftspeople to share their original creations with the community.
Stylish and upbeat swing music will also be performed throughout the weekend. On Saturday guests can hear the music of The Knot Dead Band, Dr. Blues, and T.J. Sullivan. On Sunday live bands Sid Jacobs, High Fives, and The MacMammals, featuring musician/singer/songwriter Paul Marshall, will play.
Fresh food, made on-site by Chef Jesse of the Culinary Arts Institute at LA Mission College, and drinks will be available for sale.
“Last year the food served was Mexican, which included tacos, quesadillas, vegetarian options, and lemonade,” Geis said. “The food is all fresh and made at McGroarty.”
Nearly 300 people are expected to attend the June Art Fair at McGroarty. For those unable to attend the Art Fair, there is still an opportunity to view ceramic artwork as part the 16th Annual Ceramics Art Show that continues until June 28. McGroarty is also hosting its fourth annual Burger, Beer, and Band Night on Aug. 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
McGroarty Arts Center is a non-profit organization offering creative arts experiences. McGroarty Arts Center was founded in 1953 in the historic home and 12-acre grounds of John Steven McGroarty, who wrote poems and plays, as well as a weekly comment column for over 40 years for the LA Times, Seen from the Green Verdugo Hills.
