Every Friday through August visitors to Brand Park can hear summer concerts for free on the Brand Library Plaza, supported by the City of Glendale and the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission, with funding from the Urban Art Program and the Brand Associates. This Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m., the Brand Plaza Series presents Drivin’ Mama Crazy.
Drivin’ Mama Crazy is a mixture of bluegrass, country and rock. The band members have performed together since 1983. Brothers John and Evan Marshall invited Arshag Chookoorian to become a member of their band Smokewood. A short time later, banjo player Andy Rau was asked to join the band for a tour of county and state fairs throughout the western United States. That was the beginning of professional collaborations and personal friendships that have lasted over 30 years. Performances run 60 to 90 minutes without intermission. Seating is limited and there is no reserved seating.
The Plaza seats 75 to 90 people for a performance. Visitors are welcome to bring a chair or blanket and sit on the grassy hillsides in Brand Park.
The Plaza is located at 1601 W. Mountain St. in Glendale.
