The following local students graduated from the University of San Diego on May 26: Marshall Kim and Rodrigo Torres of La Cañada. Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. Torres earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Mark Mollica of La Crescenta also graduated, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering and graduated cum laude. Nicole Trombatore of Sunland graduated, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Olivia Garland of La Cañada Flintridge has been named to Emmanuel College dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester. To earn a spot on the dean’s list, Emmanuel students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.

Caylie Denham of Tujunga excelled during the spring 2019 semester at Hofstra University achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean’s list.

Pureum Lee of La Crescenta graduated from Whitworth College with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Lee graduated with cum laude honors.
Located in Spokane, Washington, Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. The university, which has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Meredith Roberts of La Cañada Flintridge has been named to the University of Delaware dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester.
To meet eligibility requirements for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

Jason Rowton of La Cañada was named to Fort Lewis College dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester. Rowton’s major is economics.
To be eligible for dean’s list, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.6 or better in no fewer than 15 credit hours of graded college level work and have completed all work for which they are registered by the end of the semester.
Fort Lewis College is located on a mesa above historic Durango, Colorado.

The University of Alabama awarded about 5,716 degrees during its spring commencement May 3-5. Among the recipients were Henry Richard Harris of La Crescenta who earned a juris doctor, and Ryan Howard Helbing of Sunland-Tujunga, who earned a Bachelor of Science in commerce & business administration.

Kaitlyn Moguel of Tujunga was named to the McKendree University dean’s list for earning a grade point average of 3.60 or higher during the spring 2019 semester.

Over 300 Carleton College students were recognized on May 31 at the 2019 Honors Convocation. A Carleton tradition, Honors Convocation draws the campus community together to celebrate the academic accomplishments of Carleton students and faculty. Among those recognized were Jillian Hana Yanai of Glendale, who received the Technos International Week Fellow, and Sacha Greenfield of La Crescenta, who received the Phi Beta Kappa, Jean Schmidt Prize.
On June 15, 459 graduates were conferred the degree of Bachelor of Arts, the culmination of four years of study in the liberal arts.
Sacha Greenfield of La Crescenta studied physics and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Chae Won Kim of Montrose studied computer science and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Elijah Eigenbrodt of Glendale has earned placement on the Gonzaga University president’s list for spring semester 2019. Students must earn a 3.85 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed. Liam Cascelli of Glendale and John Moore of La Crescenta earned placement on the Gonzaga University dean’s list for spring semester 2019. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.84 grade-point average to be listed.

More than 4,100 Baylor University students have been named to the dean’s academic honor list for the spring 2019 semester. Students honored on the dean’s list are Baylor undergraduates with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
Among these students is Eric M. Gerlach from La Cañada. Both attend the College of Arts and Sciences.
Baylor University also conferred degrees to nearly 3,000 graduates during spring commencement exercises May 17-18. Among those graduating were McKenna Rose Middleton, Bachelor of Arts, journalism, Spanish, summa cum laude and Taylor Rene Middleton, Bachelor of Arts, religion. McKenna also earned a place on the dean’s list. Rachel Leigh Achterman received a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, International Business.

Frankie V. Cozzarelli of Sunland was recently named to the highly selective dean’s list at Colby College in Waterville, Maine for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2018-19 academic year. Cozzarelli is one of 443 Colby students – or 23% of the qualified student body – to have earned a spot on the dean’s list last semester.
Cozzarelli, a member of the Class of 2020, attended Los Angeles Lutheran Junior-Senior High School and is the son of Juan and Dacia Cozzarelli of Sunland. Cozzarelli earned a semester grade point average of 3.78 or higher this spring to be included on Colby’s dean’s list.
Founded in 1813, Colby serves only undergraduates and offers a rigorous academic program rooted in deep exploration of ideas and close interaction with world-class faculty scholars.
