Fifty-three entries walked, drove and rode down Foothill Boulevard on Thursday for the annual Sunland-Tujunga Fourth of July Parade. The event, which is hosted by the Sunland-Tujunga-Shadow Hills Rotary Club, brought out everyone’s patriotic spirit. The parade began with Los Angeles Police Dept. flying overhead in an LAPD helicopter then motorcycle officers motored down Foothill followed by LA City Fire.
Organizers said about 7,000 people lined the boulevard to see a hometown parade that included a lot of water guns from both the audience and the participants.
The Verdugo Hills High School athletes gave as good as they got shooting water back and forth with the audience. Although there was hardly a dry eye, or clothing, everyone were all smiles as this traditional/untraditional parade celebrated America’s independence.
