Delphi Academy of Los Angeles, which for over 25 years has been educating children from kindergarten through high school, celebrated the official opening of its new preschool with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 10.

The celebration took place on the school’s campus at in Lake View Terrace.

The event was attended by the entire student body, which was joined by several honored guests. These included Cathy Viney of Applied Scholastics International, Angelica Ayala from Mayor Villaraigosa’s office, Nate Jones from Councilmember Krekorian’s office, Marco Sanchez from Councilmember Fuentes’ office, as well as Tomi Bowling from the Sunland/Tujunga Neighborhood Council, Nicholas Krall from the Sylmar Chamber of Commerce and Neighborhood Council, Jackie Walls from the La Cañada Chamber of Commerce and Marynance Schellenbach from the Lions Club.

Sanchez presented the head of school Karen Dale with a certificate of recognition from Assemblymember Fuentes and Senator Padilla. Dale then delivered her message to the audience, the essence of which was summed up in a quote by L. Ron Hubbard:

“Today’s children will become tomorrow’s civilization. Bringing a child into the world today is a little bit like dropping one into a tiger’s cage. Children can’t handle their environment and they have no real resources. They need love and help to make it.”

The ceremony concluded with the traditional ribbon cutting – but being a preschool, the head of school used giant-size safety scissors.
