Crescenta Valley community turns out to welcome pioneering kidney dialysis center at the Verdugo Hills Hospital

Members of the local community and professionals from the medical sector came out last Friday afternoon, Nov. 19, to celebrate the Kidney Dialysis Center of Verdugo Hills’ (KDCVH) open house and ribbon cutting at the Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH).

As reported previously in the Crescenta Valley Weekly, the KDCVH fills a unique niche in the community – not only is it the only dialysis center serving the area, but the only one in California that uses cutting edge nocturnal dialysis treatments.

Dialysis patients from the Crescenta Valley will find that the KDCVH provides convenience and peace-of-mind by making available a dialysis treatment close to home, and by offering a dialysis procedure that not only replicates most closely the functions of real kidneys, but does so without having to cut into a patient’s work day.

Dr. Kant Tucker of the KDCVH was glowing with pride as he oversaw the opening of this new dialysis center. Inspired as a youth to study nephrology by a brother-in-law afflicted with diabetes, Dr. Tucker has been at the forefront of the latest kidney dialysis treatments. Throughout his career he has striven to offer all of his patients the very best quality of care and the latest technological advances.

Representing the VHH was Cindy Trousdale, VP of Finance for the hospital. “This will be a huge benefit for patients suffering with diabetes. Travel can often be a problem, but the [KDCVH] makes it easy for them by being so close.” Speaking about Dr. Tucker’s organization, Trousdale praised the KDCVH as a “top-notch organization” and the staff of the KDCVH as “consummate professionals that know their business thoroughly.”

KDCVH center staff is able to meet the needs of the Crescenta Valley’s diverse community with a staff that is fluent in Spanish, Armenian, and Arabic.
