Hawaiian Barbecue Supports CV Instrumental Music Foundation
The CV High School Instrumental Music Foundation is hosting a Hawaiian barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the school quad. There will be authentic Hawaiian food, hula dancing, ukulele music plus performances by the award-winning CVHS jazz band and more.

Pancake Breakfast and Concert
The music department of Rosemont Middle School is having its 11th Annual Pancake Breakfast Concert on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Rain or shine, diners will enjoy a breakfast of all-you-can-eat pancakes while enjoying an early morning concert. Tickets are $5 at the door and are also being sold now by students in the music program.

Children’s Choir
St. Luke’s of the Mountains is debuting its first children’s choir. The choir is open to all community children regardless whether they attend St. Luke’s. Participation in the choir is free of charge for children ages 7 to 12. No singing or musical background is required. The first meeting will be at St. Luke’s on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the junior church located underneath Sadler Hall. Subsequent rehearsals will be in the junior church on Wednesday nights. Sign-in starts at 6:45 p.m.
Parents are welcome to attend to learn more about the group.

Celebrating Milestone Anniversary
On Saturday, Nov. 3 the Valley View Education Foundation will be celebrating 20 years of excellence at the 3rd Annual Gratitude Gala. Attendees will enjoy catering from Hollywood chef Kyndra McCrary of Ooh La La Catering, music by celebrity DJ Brandi Garcia, and bidding on items in silent and live auctions.

Call for Young Writers
Bennington College is now accepting submissions from high school students nationwide for its 2019-20 Young Writers Awards.
This annual competition, which accepts entries in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, is free to enter and open to high school students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades. A first-, second-, and third-place winner is selected in each of the categories with cash prizes from $125-$500 awarded.
Submissions for the 2019-20 Young Writers Awards will be accepted through Nov. 1 with winners announced in spring 2020.
