For 44 years, Family Fun Days at Our Lady of Lourdes School has brought an authentic family carnival to its family and the community.
“It is a fundraiser for our school,” said Veronica Carrillo, the school’s principal.
There were rides, games, music with live bands and lots and lots of food. This year was a bit different from previous years because the organizers worked hard to bring the event back to a real family-type fair.
“This makes it unique this year,” said Carrillo. “We brought it back to its roots of being family-friendly.”
The success of organizers was obvious in seeing so many kids and parents walking around the school campus, deciding which ride to try next. After sliding down the “big slide” a few times, one little girl grabbed her daddy’s hand and pulled him to the next ride.
“I like the slide and the park and the one that goes around and around,” said 6-year-old Jazmine Lima of her favorite rides at the fair.
It is not an exaggeration to say thousands of people joined in the fun over the three-day event.
“It was an amazing turnout,” Carrillo said.
“I like it this year,” said Sofia Cancahe, a sixth grader. “The rides are better this year.”
Sofia and kindergartener Helena Hasroun said they love the fair because of everything they can do and because they could be with friends.
