For the 11th year, Angeles Crest Art Guild (ACAG) members will present their art at a free one-day show and sale on Saturday, Oct 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 5120 Earl Drive in La Cañada Flintridge. ACAG president, painter, and art instructor Lizz Tucker will host the event featuring 16 artists/artisans spread throughout the property. Works will be available from individual artists in a range of prices and styles including works in oil, fine art photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and jewelry. There is ample street parking and an accessible drop-off area.

Tucker and ACAG co-president Kathryn Hansen said that the Guild members, who live and work in the foothill communities, are very committed to “paying it forward” and helping local arts education programs to thrive. The artists donate a percentage of their sales for art scholarships. Additional funds are raised through an exciting raffle of baskets filled with creative, fun and useful items. Last year ACAG donated over $1,200 to the Creative Arts Group, a 501c3 nonprofit art center in Sierra Madre, whose mission is to expose the community to the arts through education, shows and outreach projects. The ACAG funding this year will again provide need-based scholarships for children.

“Art is such an important part of a child’s education,” said Tucker. “It not only teaches a different way of looking at the world, it opens up opportunities to express oneself in ways that defy words or boundaries. I love that we can donate money back into arts programs, especially as these areas of funding are continually being cut. And having the show at my home lets neighbors come and see the amazing talent in our community.”

The ACAG began over 15 years ago with a handful of local painters who wanted to work in a supportive creative community. Over the years ACAG has expanded to include all kinds of visual artists, and has 37 members. At monthly meetings members share artwork and host speakers who provide information about artistic and business techniques.

“Coming together monthly with like-minded women artists is something I always look forward to,” said Hansen. “The deep friendships I have made and the sense of community I feel with this group has absolutely enhanced my life in such wonderful ways.”
