CV Sheriff’s Support Group c omedy Night on Oct. 20

On Oct. 20, the CV Sheriff’s Support Group is hosting a Comedy Night Fundraiser with an all-star line up that is sure to be a blast.

The CV Sheriff’s Support Group helps maintain the important connection between the community and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. The group supports programs including Montrose Search and Rescue, Explorer Scouts, Mounted Posse, Neighborhood Watch and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). 

The Comedy Night Fundraiser will be held at The Ice House, 24 Mentor Ave. Pasadena. Doors open at 6 p.m., show begins at 7 p.m. Those attending must be 21-years-old or older. There is a two drink minimum. For more information contact Lisa Dutton at (818) 249-8378.

History of Early Cinema in Los Angeles on Oct. 21

The Historical Society of Crescent Valley invites all to join them on Oct. 21 for a discussion on early cinema in LA. Our presenter Donald Seligman is a local amateur historian whose family first arrived in LA more than 100 years ago. He is the author of “Los Feliz and the Silent Film Era: The Heart of Los Angeles Cinema 1908 to 1930.” This is a free event. It will begin at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Center for Spiritual Living, 4845 Dunsmore Ave.

Community Health and Wellbeing Fair Oct. 26

A community health and wellbeing fair for the entire family will be held on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital lower west parking lot,  1812 Verdugo Blvd. There will be free health check-ups and screenings for adults and children, including cholesterol, glucose, vision, stroke, body mass index and balance, plus free flu shots. There will also be opportunities to meet local doctors, and plenty for kids to do including face painting, gymnastics demos, a fun obstacle course and much more. Come in Halloween costumes for fun treats.

Movin’ Around in SoCal on Nov. 9

Little Landers Historical Society announces the next in its series of monthly second Saturday historical and educational programs.  Join us at Bolton Hall Museum at 1 p.m. on November 9. Our program will focus on Southern California’s now-vanished landmarks and changes in rail and air transportation since the 1950’s. Our speaker, Gordon Glattenberg, is a registered professional engineer who has lived his entire life in Southern California.  A hobby in photography has led to extensive travel in all 50 states and 45 countries. This event is free, open to the public.
