Possible Power Interruptions
Due to forecast fire weather conditions, Southern California Edison is exploring a potential public safety power shutoff of electrical lines in the area. SCE anticipates that this may occur on Friday, Oct. 25 though it may occur earlier or later depending on actual weather conditions.
SCE encourages customers to prepare by having an outage plan and emergency kit. SCE will send daily updates until conditions improve.

CVCA Meets Tonight
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting tonight, Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. The CVCA is a cross-jurisdictional, volunteer organization that encourages collaboration between community groups so that the Crescenta Valley can be represented with one voice.
All are invited to the meeting in the community room of the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd. (entrance off La Crescenta Avenue).

Birding at Rosemont Preserve with Mark Hunter
All are invited on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to take a bird tour of the Rosemont Preserve. Mark Hunter from Pasadena Audubon will lead a hike through the Preserve to point out the types of birds that live there.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages, no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those who have mobility issues that require a closer parking spot should contact the Preserve. Please wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.

New date for PLUM VHGC
The final meeting of the Planning Land Use Management regarding the Verdugo Hills Golf Course Property has been moved to Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. It will be held at Council Chamber City Hall, 200 N. Spring St. in Los Angeles. Anyone concerned regarding the future of the property is encouraged to attend.

Meeting Planned for CVTC Streets & Transportation Committee
The Crescenta Valley Town Council Streets & Transportation Committee will next meet on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the United Methodist Church, 2700 Montrose Ave.
On the agenda will be information on open issues including presentations by County DPW staff liaisons, CVTC updates, and an update on Cloud Avenue and Foothill Boulevard project design intersection improvements. Discussion will be presented on the Metro Open Streets grant application for 2020, the Safe Routes to School Plan development and Measure M funding.

La Cañada Library Hosting Annual Fall Book Sale
The community is invited to a book sale by the La Cañada Library being held today, Thursday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special $1 per bag pricing.
All of the monies from Friends of the Library memberships and purchased books help support the functions of the La Cañada Library and help make the library enjoyable and informative for adults and children.
GCC Theatre Arts Presents ‘Twelve Angry Jurors’
“Twelve Angry Jurors” by Reginald Rose will be staged by the Glendale Community College Theatre Arts Dept. in the Auditorium Mainstage Theatre beginning Nov. 7.
Theatre Arts instructor Jennette D. Farr is the director.
In the story, based on the award-winning TV movie, one man is dead; another’s life hangs in the balance when 12 jurors from varied backgrounds and experiences must unanimously decide his guilt or innocence. Sherman L. Sergel wrote the stage adaptation.
Performances are Nov. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased online at www.glendalearts.org or at the box office.
