St. James-Holy Redeemer School organized its first jog-a-thon in October. With support from both parishes the school, which boasts over 100 students, raised nearly $21,000 – double the initial goal of $10,000. Additional donations are being accepted through Nov. 30 through PayPal http://sjhrschool.org/jogathon-2019.
The school held the fundraiser to raise money for school supplies, classroom materials and the school’s educational efforts.
Transitional kindergarten through eighth grade students were eager to run many miles, showing off their endurance. Top earners, top runners and the
top cumulative performing class won fun prizes. Each participant received a certificate for outstanding performance.
The jog-a-thon was held on the upper yard of St. James-Holy Redeemer School, 4635 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. The yard was transformed into a festive track with colorful banners, student posters and an emcee with music booming from large speakers to motivate kids while running. Cheering them on were parents, teachers and school staff.
