Notes & Nods

This Week at LCIF

All are invited to celebrate Christ the King at Lutheran Church in the Foothills on Sunday, Nov. 24. The education hour for all ages begins at 9 a.m. followed by family worship at 10 a.m. Pastor Scott Peterson will lead the service with a sermon titled “Outside Jerusalem.” After the service, all are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a time of refreshments and conversation.

Advent services will be held Sundays during December at 10 a.m. On Dec. 15, the Anthem Chorale will lead worship with its annual Carols and Anthems service. The Chorale’s famous desserts will be available in the Fellowship Hall following the event. It’s always a fun and tasty way to get ready for Christmas!

The annual candlelight service will be at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve – it’s a great way to get ready for Christmas Day and all are welcome.

Lutheran Church in the Foothills, the “touchdown” church, is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. For more information, call (818) 790-1951 or visit www.lcifoothills.org.

Operation Christmas Child

In November sites in the Crescenta Valley area will be among 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, Nov. 18-25.

Empty shoeboxes will be filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items and given to Samaritan’s Purse for delivery. For many of these children, it will be the first gift they have received.

Collections can be made at Community Life Church, 4441 La Crescenta Ave. on Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from noon to 4 p.m. and Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Village Christian Schools, 8930 Village Ave. in Sun Valley on Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Treasure, Crafts and Holiday Sale
