Runners who did not let cold weather and rain slow them down lined up on Foothill Boulevard on Thanksgiving morning in La Cañada for the annual Thanksgivings Day Run.

The run began in 1994 and throughout the years has become, for many families, a holiday tradition.

Diane Peranich described herself as “not much of a runner” but was there in the rain waiting at the start line.

“This has become a family tradition,” Peranich joked. “My sister is a hardcore runner and there was no way to say ‘no’ to her.”

She added she liked the run not only because of the tradition but also because it brings out the community.

“This is such a cute community,” she said. “I think it is a great thing they do.”

Peranich lives in Half Moon Bay, but travels to La Cañada for the run. She added she liked that the run is combined with the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s food and toy drive.

There may have been fewer runners due to the cold and rain but those who came out were all that more determined to run … and not even a downpour could slow them down.
