GUSD Reaches Out
The Glendale Unified School District has issued a statement in response to questions by the community of what its members can do to help following the death of a Crescenta Valley High School student. Among the suggestions is a request to the community to submit hand-written notes of affirmation for individual students. These notes will be put on students’ desks after they return from winter break.
Those interested in submitting a note need to follow these parameters:
Notes should be general, not addressed to a specific student. Notes should be hand-written on an 8½ x 11 sheet of paper. Do not fold the notes.
While these notes can be signed, please only use first names and do not include contact information. Notes can be sent to the CV High School main office at Crescenta Valley High School, Attn: Secretary Laurie Hanson, 2900 Community Ave., La Crescenta, CA 91214 before Jan. 2. They can also be hand delivered to CVHS on Jan. 2 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Pet Licensing Change for Unincorporated Areas of La Crescenta and Montrose
On Jan. 1, 2 the Los Angeles County Dept. of Animal Care and Control (DACC) will begin processing new and renewal pet licenses for the unincorporated Los Angeles County areas of La Crescenta-Montrose (91214, 91020, 91011) among others. DACC will honor all current animal licenses obtained with fees already paid to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA (PHSS), and PHSS will be directing pet owners in these areas to make future payments to DACC.
Please note that the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA will continue to provide animal related sheltering and field services such as intake and sheltering of stray animals, relinquishment of owned pets, adoptions to the public of homeless pets, low cost spay and neuter, reports of loose or dangerous animals, and removal of dead animals from public and private property in the areas listed above. For more information or to pay license renewal online, visit the DACC website at animalcare.lacounty.gov or contact Adrienne Rodriguez of DACC Licensing Administration at (562) 345-0301 ARodriguez@animalcare.lacounty.gov, or Christy Robledo at (562) 658-2000 CRobledo@animalcare.lacounty.gov.
