Our most precious Katherine Burns passed away peacefully in her sleep on Christmas morning after a four-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Danny Tubbs; siblings Margaret Bannerman, R. A. van Knapp, Robert Knapp; her stepsons Michael Tubbs, Steven Tubbs, Daniel Tubbs, Noah Tubbs, Donny Tubbs; and 10 step-grandchildren.

Katherine attended Crescenta Valley High School, class of 1976, and Cal State Northridge. She enjoyed acting and drama class. She was in many plays at the Jester Dinner Theater in Montrose in the early ’80s. She worked at CINAHL (housed at Glendale Adventist Hospital) as a managing editor for 31 years. She was a founding member of the Hearing Loss Association of America, Los Angeles chapter, and served on the steering committee for years, and served as president for three years.

In 2005, Katherine married her childhood sweetheart Danny Tubbs. They spent the past 15 years enjoying life and love. Katherine’s beautiful spirit and kind heart will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Crippen Mortuary, 2900 Honolulu Ave. in La Crescenta.
