On Dec. 30, a robbery occurred at a convenience store located on the 500 block of West Colorado Boulevard. Surveillance cameras captured photos of the suspect who was wearing a distinct jacket with what appeared to be a horse’s head drawn on the back of it. These photographs were disseminated to all of the officers within the Glendale Police Dept.
On Dec. 31, just after 11 a.m., three robberies took place, one right after another. These incidents occurred at convenience stores located on the 200 block of South Glendale, the 100 block of West Colorado, and the 400 block of East Broadway. In all three robberies, the suspect was described identically to the suspect from the robbery that took place on Dec. 30. Officers in the area spotted the suspect and attempted to detain him. A short foot pursuit ensued; the suspect was ultimately arrested.
The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Rashid Edwards of Brooklyn, New York. Edwards was charged with robbery and elder abuse. The elder abuse charge was due to the age of one of the robbery victims.
