Elizabeth (Ellie) June Paszkiewicz was born on Jan. 1, 2020 at 8:18 p.m. to parents David and Kristina Paszkiewicz, making her the first new baby of the year for USC-VHH. Baby Ellie weighed 8 lbs. and 15 oz. She was welcomed home by her brother Malcolm, 7, and sister Parker, 5. The family is from Altadena, and both parents work for the La Cañada Unified School District.

To celebrate the joyous occasion, the hospital provided the family with a welcome basket courtesy of the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, containing donations from Dream Dinners Pasadena; The YMCA of the Foothills; Bellies, Babies, and Bosoms; Merle Norman Cosmetics; J’s Maids; Once Upon A Time Bookstore; Sue’s Hallmark; The VFW/American Legion Posts; and the CV Weekly.

Prior to Elizabeth’s arrival, the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation hosted a contest on its Facebook page inviting followers to guess the weight and time of birth of the hospital’s first baby of the New Year. La Cañada Flintridge residents John Kruse guessed the closest weight and Barbara Self Lewis came closest for time of birth.
