Riverwalk Workday
Join the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon for the Riverwalk Workday. Help is needed to weed and maintain the landscaped areas and clean the paved bike trail. Tasks are available for all ages and abilities. This is a great event for families, individuals, groups, clubs, and students needing community service hours. No experience is needed.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing including long pants, hat and sun protection. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled.
Everyone will need to have a waiver signed; minors must provide a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

SHCAP Plans Meeting
Sparr Heights Connect And Prepare (SHCAP) is a growing group of Sparr Heights residents volunteering to organize a handful of efforts to enhance the security of the community. The first of these efforts is a free program developed by the American Red Cross called “Map Your Neighborhood” (MYN) designed to improve readiness at the neighborhood level. Sparr Heights residents are encouraged to attend a meeting on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 3510 Buena Vista Ave, Glendale 91208 to learn more about MYN.
Future initiatives of SHCAP will include launching a community website and organizing for The Great California Shakeout, as well as the National Night Out.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will be removing invasive, non native plants and cleaning up the trails for upcoming field trips. Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those with mobility issues who require a closer parking spot should contact RosemontFriends@gmail.com.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Docent Training at Rosemont Preserve
Those interested in being a docent at the Rosemont Preserve are invited to a training session on native plants on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. and on geology on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. Both sessions will be held at the Preserve (park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave.).
Students are ready to come to Rosemont to learn about the land, its natural resources, and living in harmony with nature. Docents are needed so students have the opportunity to explore and create meaningful learning experiences in this outdoor classroom.
Stipends are offered for every field trip a person docents. Those who would like to docent, shadow a docent, or receive more information, please email field administrator Roshni Katrak-Adefowora at roshnikatrak@arroyosfoothills.org.
