The Church of Scientology of the Valley has been hosting NoHo Music Show – Open Mic every second Tuesday of the month since August. This month a variety of talented young and seasoned singers performed a selection of varied genres of music. Each was unique – from contemporary, rock and classical song choices – even an amazing harmonica player.
Charissa Wheeler was the host for the show. She is the owner of the Music Junction in Burbank. Her right hand man from the school, Bob Vaughn, staged the performers and helped with the hosting duties. Wheeler created the Burbank Singing Star, which is presented by the Kiwanis Club of Burbank. Proceeds benefit Music Education at the Burbank Unified School district.
The Church’s large auditorium provides outstanding acoustics that enhanced the superb performers. Its impressive size, beauty and large stage gave the artists a chance to perform as if in concert while offering a safe environment for them to express themselves.
The regulars who come each month share how wonderful they feel to come to this environment of friendliness and support. One young singer’s mom said that the open mic has given her daughter a new chance in life and a new direction of music she did not have before. The alcohol-free environment allows youth to come and express themselves on a professional stage.
All are welcome to join the next NoHo Music Show – Open Mic on March 10 at the Church of Scientology of the Valley, 11455 Burbank Blvd. in North Hollywood. For more info, call (818) 947-0600 and ask for Abbey. Register on Eventbrite or info@nohocommunityevents.org.
