Members of Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus (VHWC), one of 11 California Women’s Chorus, Inc. (CWC) will meet with singers throughout Southern California for a combined rehearsal of the music that will be presented at the CWC 51st Annual Scholarship Concert on May 3. VHWC director Ki Park will lead the delegation of singers at the annual rehearsal event where they will sharpen their skills under the direction of a guest director. Many of the VHWC members shared that they are looking forward to renewing friendships formed by years of singing at CWC concerts as well as forming new friendships with women who recently joined a chorus to share their love of singing.

Each of CWC’s member choruses has rehearsed the same music for the past several months and will convene for the Southern California Area Rehearsal on Saturday March 7. Over 125 women are expected to attend.

The Area Rehearsal is being hosted by members of the Harbor Singers who are directed by Carole Arvidson. Harbor Singers have been performing throughout California since 1952.  Members have varied career backgrounds and hobbies but are united by their love of music, singing and performing.

Refreshments will be provided by members of several choruses, including Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus. Arrival time is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Saturday and, after light snacks, members are expected to be in their seats and ready to sing at 8:45 a.m. Singers can expect a four-hour-plus rehearsal on Saturday and several notes to take back and share with members unable to attend this fun working day.

This will be the first opportunity for many of the singers to meet with the rehearsal and CWC concert guest director, Cindy Skinner. Skinner is the director of SASS, Soprano Alto Singers of Solano, formerly known as Melody Singers, which were founded in Vallejo over 70 years ago.    Christine Lecce, well known to CWC members, will return as accompanist. She collaborates for competitions, auditions and local performances with musicians on a regular basis and accompanied at CWC Scholarship Concerts in 2013, 2015 and 2019.
