On Thursday, Dec. 16, State Farm Insurance presented the Glendale Fire Department with a check for $5,000.
“At State Farm, part of our community giving is in the area of safety. And so the focus here is safety disaster preparedness and regional training of the firefighters,” said Eddie Martinez, representative of State Farm’s public affairs.
He presented the check to Fire Chief Capt. Harold Scoggins and Capt. Craig Skidmore from the GFD.
In 2010, State Farm Insurance “Good Neighbor” donation program has contributed over $2.5 million to community organizations in California.
“The check will be used for the regional training center which is actually Regional C fire departments, not just Glendale,” Skidmore said.
The money will be targeted to support hazardous materials and urban search and rescue team training.
