Dignity Health-Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center (GMHHC) has implemented an onsite grocery store for its health care workers. A section of the hospital’s cafeteria has been set-up as a mini-mart with shopping available every day of the week.
“I am so proud of the continued dedication of the entire Glendale Memorial Hospital family and hope this program provides more time for our staff and physicians to spend at home with their families instead of venturing out to the store,” states Jill Welton, GMHHC Hospital president. “The community support has been overwhelming and if we can help one another, even with simple things like groceries, we will get through this, together.”
Alex Valdez, GMHHC’s director of Food and Nutrition Services, shared that staff and physicians have expressed their gratitude for the shopping options with the first day serving more than 100 employees. Thanks to the hospital’s partnership with distributors, like U.S. Foods and Santa Monica Seafood, the cafeteria is able to purchase items and sell them to staff at cost.
