So, you have made your New Year’s resolutions and now it is the 6th of the month. Have you kept them?
Don’t worry if you have not. I read on the Internet that only 12% of people actually keep their New Year’s resolutions.
You could be one of the 12%, however it will require work and dedication to say the least. Here are three tips to help you stay on track.
1) You have to really want it. You have to make it your number one priority. It is probably best to only have one thing you are working on, because if 12% of the people don’t follow through it may be hard to follow through on even one resolution. 2) Write it down. Spend a few minutes writing down why you want it, what it means to you and how it is going to make you feel.
3) Set reminders for yourself on your cell phone alarm. Most email programs have reminder systems that can also send you a message reminding you to stick with it and why it is so important to you.
Remember that even if you do not follow through, you are not alone. In fact you are in the 88% majority. Maybe we should listen to Oprah and just try to “get it right.”
If your New Year’s resolution is to get involved in your community, or to volunteer some time to a good cause, or even a business-type goal such as to get more referrals, the Crescenta Valley Chamber can help. The Crescenta Valley is a wonderful place to live, raise your families and conduct business. By getting involved with the Crescenta Valley Chamber, you will meet the individuals that make this a better place while meeting new people to do business with.
Our Installation of Officers and Directors next week, Jan. 13, brings together the movers and shakers of our community. In attendance will be successful business owners, selfless volunteers and community heroes that do their part to make this valley a better place. Soar with the eagles and join us at the Chevy Chase Country Club for our 11:00 a.m. luncheon. This luncheon will also feature the distribution of the Mary Pinola/CV Chamber Educational Endowment Funds. Over $13,000 will be given to 13 local institutions that educate our children in the Crescenta Valley. What a great way to start the New Year – bestowing funds into our educational system.
