PORTANTINO & FRIEDMAN WRAP-UPS PRESENTED AT DEM CLUB
State Senator Anthony Portantino (CA25) and Assemblywoman Laura Friedman (AD43) will join the Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club for a Zoom meeting on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. They will give an overview of their past year in office.
Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (AD39—Sunland-Tujunga) will also share her legislative experience.
Members have been phone-banking, text-banking and check-writing for local and national candidates as they couldn’t do traditional precinct-walking during this pandemic.

USC-VHH OFFERS DRIVE THROUGH FLU SHOT CLINIC
On Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, in conjunction with the YMCA of the Foothills and the City of La Cañada Flintridge, is hosting a drive through community free flu shot clinic. Clinic will be held in the lower east parking lot.

LA CANCER CHALLENGE 5K WALK/RUN
Registration for the 23rd LA Cancer Challenge 5K Walk/Run on Oct. 25 is open. The goal is to unite generations, young and old, through physical fitness to create public awareness and raise much-needed funds for pancreatic cancer research. Pancreatic cancer patients continue being diagnosed every day.
When participants register as a LACC virtual walker/runner, they’ll be participating in a nationwide awareness event that can be completed any place and at any pace of their choosing.
Adult virtual registration is $40 and includes a long sleeve event T-shirt, “Never Give Up” facemask, downloadable running bib and finishers medal. Youth (11 and under) virtual registration is $25 and includes a kids event T-shirt, downloadable running bib and finishers medal.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT THE ART OF FOREST LAWN
All are invited to a virtual look at never-before-seen treasures from the historic Forest Lawn Museum, presented by Museum Director Dr. James Fishburne. Presented by The Glendale Historical Society, the event is on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.

CCLCF THANKSGIVING DAY RUN & FOOD DRIVE
The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge’s Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Mile Run, a local tradition and a community favorite for over two decades, will be held virtually this year. Participants will select a distance, sign up and pay the registration fee. They will pick up their bib, shirt, medal and swag on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and will have Thursday, Nov. 26 to complete the distance.
After completing their race, they will log into their account on the registration system to input their time, and all participants will be able to print a certificate.
Times will be tracked for placement (age, gender, overall).
