Artist Karim Shuquem’s art installation, Die Kuntskammer, is at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station, 1020 East Palmer Ave. in Glendale, continues through Nov. 13. Die Kuntskammer is an ongoing and evolving sculptural installation made up of individually painted, carved and stacked wine crates interspersed with found objects and often accompanied by prints pulled directly from the carved surfaces of the boxes. Never fixed or finished, the overall project is inspired by the process-based metaphysics and thinkers such as Deleuze, Alfred North Whitehead, and Heraclitus, and serves as a commentary on the negative effects of western substance-based ontologies. This temporary art installation is sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services and Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
