Kay Linden is named new chairmen of board of directors

On Thursday, Sept. 24 during a brief ceremony, La Cañada resident Kay Linden assumed the role of chairmen of the board of the YMCA of the Foothills.

Linden thanked outgoing chairmen Sam E Longo Jr. for his commitment of time and dedication to the YMCA, and presented him with an engraved memorial gavel. Longo has served as chairmen for two years and has successfully led the association through this difficult financial time.

Linden joined the YMCA board in 2005. She has recently served as vice-chair and has played an important leadership role in the last three community support campaigns.

Linden, who is often seen working out in the Haaga Wellness Center, said, “These are exciting times for our YMCA. Our association continues to reach out to more and more community members through new and innovative programs and the board has begun the search for a new CEO who will bring a renewed commitment to our community and association. Personally, I am excited about sharing the mission of the YMCA with our friends and neighbors in the foothills as we work together to build ‘strong kids, strong families and strong communities.’”

Kay and her husband David raised two children, Jeff and Tricia, who attended La Cañada schools and were active at the YMCA.
