It has been an honor to serve as president of the chamber for the past two years. I’ve worked with an outstanding board of directors and appreciate all they have done. The past two years have had their share of unplanned events, such as the fire and floods, not to mention a downturn in the economy that is hopefully now coming back.
Through all these disasters, you come to appreciate what is taken for granted. I can’t say enough about our law enforcement. People we, at times, look upon as “purveyors of tickets” that we don’t think we deserve, but then expect them to respond when we call 911.
Captain Dance and his CHP team have been here for us time and again. Under CV Sheriff’s, Captain Silversparre exhibits so much patience with my unusual requests. I can only guess he does not have caller ID. Working as a volunteer with Glendale Police, with officers Zakarian and Allen, a whole new world opened up. These guys care, all of them.
This is just part of what this community is made of. We’re quite a mix of different languages, beliefs, even unusual colors of some homes. We go along our busy way each day … where to eat, where to shop, pick up the kids and talk to our dogs. Dogs always listen.
I believe we can always boast that if one of our neighbors is in need, we will be there to help as helping is a universal language. And we are a reflection of our community.
As you read this newspaper, keep in mind what brings it to you, aside from the delivery person. The advertisers make this possible and in doing so, record history. They are also part of your community, not just supporting this paper, but our schools and organizations. You may not need what they offer at this time, but I’m sure they would appreciate a thank you for being here.
The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce has always believed in this community and those we work with. We always will.
We can be found at 3131 Foothill Blvd., in beautiful La Crescenta. Your electronic scrap, also known as e –waste, can be dropped off here on Saturday, Jan. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We can also be reached at (818) 248-4957.
It’s been a pleasure,
