Situation Resolved of Man With Knife on 210

 
UPDATE 3:25 p.m.
The situation on the 210 Freeway at Lowell Avenue has been resolved, according to the Glendale Police Dept. It is being handled as a mental health issue, not a criminal issue.
The man in question had a large knife with him and, from his statements, officers were concerned he would self-harm. The Crisis Team, with county medical emergency technicians, negotiated with him and he gave himself up. He was instructed to put down the knife on the ground, which he did. Officers were then able to take him into custody.
He is being treated for injuries resulting from the vehicle accident.
Traffic on the 210 Freeway should resume shortly.

According to a CHP spokesperson, at 12:57 p.m. negotiations were underway with the person walking the freeway at Lowell Avenue. He appeared to be armed with a knife and possibly under the influence.
Both CHP and GPD are in negotiations with the man.
 
UPDATE:
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of the 210 are closed from La Tuna Canyon to Pennsylvania.
 
CV Weekly was able to confirm that a call came into California Highway Patrol (CHP) at 12:29 p.m. reporting that a car attempting to enter the eastbound freeway at Lowell Avenue went over the side of the road.
Additional reports were received of an injured party walking on the freeway.
The eastbound lanes of the freeway are closed according to Officer Ramirez of the CHP.
GPD is responding along with CHP.
