BALANCING WORK AND CANCER BATTLE

An online program dealing with the challenge of balancing work and cancer will be given by the Cancer Support Community-Pasadena on Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The program is free of charge.

Nicole Jarvis, senior manager of programs at Cancer and Careers, will discuss ways to manage working during, or after, treatment.

DEMOCRATIC CLUB TACKLES NEW LA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY GUIDELINES

Two guest speakers will give a personal view of LA County justice from a public defender perspective at the Sunday, Jan. 17 virtual meeting of the Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club. The meeting, which will also address the volatile and changing events since the Congress met on Jan. 6, will be on Zoom from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with log-in info found on the Club’s website, ccdemclub.org.

Anna Reitano, Esq. and Karl Fenske, Esq. will address members’ concerns regarding reform-minded guidelines on sentencing from newly elected Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon.     

President Lora De La Portilla will also remind Democrats to vote in the ADEM election, which chooses delegates, by Assembly district, who vote on California Democratic Party endorsements. Four members of the Democratic Club are running in this election for Assembly District 43: Desiree Portillo Rabinov and Susan Mastrodemos are members of the Forward 43 Slate. Caroline Anderson and Sean Russell are members of the Diverse Democrats for Change slate. Mail-in ballots, which had to be previously requested from CADEM, are due by Jan. 27.

SPRING CLASSES OFFERED

Glendale Community College is offering a variety of free classes, including classes on administrative medical assisting and clinical medical assisting, beginning Feb. 16. These are part of the short-term vocational curriculum.
