NEWS FROM THE CVTC

Spring has (just about) arrived!

Let me start by saying thank you to Glendale Unified School District and its team for preparing precautionary measures to implement safety protocols so in-person learning can seamlessly be returned to. The preparations include taking students’ temperatures, designating specific entrances and exits, mandating mask wearing, putting up plexiglass shields on desks, delivering individually packed lunches to classrooms, holding class outdoors when appropriate, adding hand washing stations, installing air filters, and more.

On Feb. 18, the Los Angeles County Park & Rec staff gave a presentation to the CV Town Council and the community with the most up-to-date information on the Eagle Canyon Channel project so informed decisions can be made on whether to support or oppose any future recreational improvement at Eagle Canyon Channel.

At the March 4 CVTC/Land Use Committee meeting Los Angeles County Regional Planning made a presentation regarding possible changes to zoning within the unincorporated areas of the county. Given that there is shortage of affordable housing, the County of Los Angeles, under the guidance of the state, is looking to increase densities where it might be reasonable to do so.

Los Angeles County Park and Rec is offering a variety of classes ranging from arts and finance to fitness and mental health. Whether you are looking to learn a new skill or language, or just be more active, there’s a class for everyone. Get some fresh air with your family at your local park or take a virtual class with your friends. For more information, visit parks.lacounty.gov/spring21 or call (626) 588-5364.

Crescenta Valley Town Council – Street & Road Committee is in contact with Los Angeles County Public Works to fill potholes that emerged after the rain. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to remind our community members that illegal dumping is still happening in our community. In the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, including La Crescenta and Montrose, there is a trash responsibility ordinance that requires residents to dispose of their trash on a weekly basis. You are responsible for any trash that is in front of your home, even if it is not something you put there. Bulky items left on the street have become a danger, not just due to their size and unsanitary conditions, but also because many items are dumped on sidewalks. This is a safety concern for people walking in the neighborhoods. Please keep our community clean and beautiful.

And lastly, do not forget our monthly Town Council meetings. For those who have an interest in attending and participating in our virtual meetings and want to submit comments and/or questions, we encourage you to please contact CVTC at contact@thecvcouncil.com.

Stay safe, be healthy.

Harry Leon, President
CV Town Council
