The Home School Physical Education Program offered by the Verdugo Hills Family YMCA has received a $2,500 “PepsiCo Healthy Living Grant.” The money will be put towards improving the range of sporting equipment for the program.
“PepsiCo, a long time supporter of the Y, has pledged monies to support health and wellbeing programs throughout the Y community,” said Kim Beattie, director of Development for the Y. “The Verdugo Hills Family YMCA is thrilled to have secured a grant of $2,500 to assist the Home School PE Program.”
The Home School P.E program offered by the Y is currently in its third semester and is serving between 25-40 kids. The program offers homeschooled children a structured setting for physical fitness. It serves first through ninth graders and classes include aquatics, teen strength, indoor sports, group building games, outdoor hikes and much more.
“We are looking to improve our service to the students in the program for the 2011 school year,” said the program’s director Vince Iuculano. “We fully believe that this grant will help us take this program to a higher level of enjoyment and fitness for our students.”
