At about 4 a.m. Saturday morning neighbors called Glendale police reporting a stabbing that had occurred at a party in the 3700 block of Altura Avenue.

“It was a party at a house [in the area]. A fight broke out and the suspect ended up knifing [a man at the party]. It was very superficial wounds the [victim] wasn’t transported to the hospital,” said Lt. Brian Cohen.

By the time officers arrived at the residence the suspect had fled. At that time police were not able to find the suspect. He was described as a male Hispanic in his 20s with several tattoos.

Then at 6 a.m. that same morning a neighbor called police and reported seeing a man matching the suspect’s description in her backyard.

“He [apparently] had hunkered down in one
of the sheds in a backyard
[near the home where the party had occurred],” Cohen
said.

When police arrived the suspect had fled. Police set up a perimeter and began canvassing the neighborhood for him. The K-9 unit assisted in a search of Altura and surrounding neighborhoods.

Officer Matt Zakarian contacted the Neighborhood Watch commanders of the search. After about four hours police were unable to find the suspect. Then a witness contacted the police and reported seeing a man matching the description of the suspect in the 4200 block of Boston Avenue.

Baraja was arrested on one charge of attempted murder and burglary.
