In honor of Knott’s Berry Farm’s 100th Anniversary grand celebration, the park hosted a memorable time capsule ceremony on Wednesday, June 30 to commemorate the past and present memories created throughout the last 100 years. It was placed at the entrance of Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair, to be opened 50 years from now, on June 30, 2071. The ceremony brought park characters, Ghost Town citizens and Knott’s staff members together on stage, as representatives place notable items inside the time capsule. It was a way for the people of Knott’s to preserve history and heritage for the future descendants to discover 50 years from now.

Along with the items selected by each department for the time capsule, the Knott’s team also placed a banner covered with names and signatures of the current park associates. So, a half-century from 2021, the future park associates will be entrusted with the honor of upholding the values and traditions held today.

Additionally, Knott’s commemorated the ceremony by capturing a panoramic picture of everyone in attendance. This image was also placed in the time capsule so that 50 years from now the folks who gather for the opening of it can know exactly who was present the day it was sealed.

Attendees are able purchase or download the commemorative photo onto their FunPix accounts. The Knott’s Family Reunion 100th Anniversary celebration runs daily through Sept. 6. Ticket reservations are required for entry into the park.
