Welcome Home Baskets

Jeri Anderson and Marilyn Grebrunis

Assistance League of Glendale’s Welcome Home program has been operating during the pandemic giving laundry baskets to Ascencia graduates that are filled with items to start off a new home. These graduates have followed Ascencia’s program, worked to perfect their job interviewing skills as well as job skills, successfully found a job and saved enough to pay rent then moved to a new home. The Welcome Home Committee purchases dishes, eating utensils, dish towels, bath towels, soap, laundry detergent and anything that can fit into the basket (a value of about $120 per basket) then wraps it all up with a beautiful bow and a card explaining that it is from Assistance League of Glendale. The baskets will be stored at Ascencia to distribute when new graduates are ready to move out. Ascencia anticipates needing 80 to 90 of these baskets per year.

Assistance League of Glendale welcomes new members wanting to help others in their community. For information call President Carol Svatora at (586) 202-8764.
