Food Drive on Saturday

CVHS robotics team will host a drive-through food drive on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crescenta Valley High School parking lot at the southeast corner of Ramsdell and Community avenues. Non-perishable food items are being collected that will benefit the Bailey Human Care Center.

Community members are asked to enter the parking lot from Ramsdell, pull forward to a donation table, and “pop the trunk;” CV robotics team members will accept all donations in a socially responsible and COVID-safe manner. Donations of paper and plastic grocery bags will also be accepted as the Bailey Center uses these to distribute food to their clients.

Finally, anyone who has surplus ripe fruit or vegetables from their garden can bring those as donations as well. All donations will help care for those in need in the local community.

Settlers of the Rosemont Preserve Tour with Frank Colcord

The community is invited to learn about the early settlers of the Crescenta Valley and the impact they had on the Rosemont Preserve. The tour is on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9 – 11 a.m. and will be led by Friends of Rosemont committee member Frank Colcord. He will lead participants on a walk through the Rosemont Preserve and reveal what made this area so attractive to settlers.

In order to make sure everyone is able to hear and practice safe distancing, the size of this tour will be limited. Those who would like to attend should RSVP to RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta. Those who have mobility issues that require a closer parking spot need to contact the Friends of Rosemont committee. Please wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.

For further information contact the Friends of the Rosemont Preserve at RosemontFriends@gmail.com.
