Oct. 23

800 block of Greenridge Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, deputies responded to an alarm concerning a burglary in progress. Upon arrival they found pry marks on the back door and the door open but nothing appeared to be stolen.

The alarm was activated at 7:31 p.m.

Oct. 22

900 block of Descanso Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, several gardening tools/equipment were stolen from a vehicle between 9:30 a.m. and 9:50 a.m.

2200 block of Waltonia Drive in Montrose, a vehicle was ransacked and items were stolen from a vehicle between 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 12:40 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Oct. 21

3000 block of Los Olivos Lane in La Crescenta, the rear passenger window was shattered on a vehicle between 7:45 a.m. and 3 p.m.

2600 block of Mary Street in La Crescenta, a 2021 Mazda CXS vehicle was stolen from in front of the location. The owner parked the vehicle that night on the street and when she went out the next morning she found her car was gone. She could not find her keys so she assumed she may have dropped her keys in the yard and those were used to steal the car. The owner had a GPS attached to her vehicle and she located it parked in the 2700 block of Sanborn Avenue, about two blocks from her home. The owner had an extra set of keys and was able to drive her vehicle back home and then called the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. Deputies found two “suspicious vans” at the location. During the investigation it was discovered there had been several vehicle burglaries in the Mary Street area that had not been reported because nothing was stolen.

The car theft occurred overnight.

Oct. 16

Angeles Crest Highway/Gould Mesa in La Cañada Flintridge, a purse was stolen from a vehicle that had been parked at a turnout at the location and someone had attempted to use the credit cards without permission between 11 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. that were in the purse.

Oct. 15

900 block of Town Center Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, a woman who is well-known in the area for shoplifting entered a store and stole numerous items. A witness reported the woman filled a shopping cart with numerous items, stopped at the register, scanned and paid for two items and left the store without paying for any other items in the cart.

The theft occurred at 8:30 p.m.

Oct. 8

3000 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a woman described as wearing a black mask, white shirt and black pants, used counterfeit currency to purchase items from a store. The woman paid for the items and received change from the purchase.

The next morning another employee was preparing for the business’ daily deposit and noticed the counterfeit bills. She immediately notified the manager who then flagged the receipt as a fraudulent transaction. Two days ago a woman that allegedly passed fraudulent bills at the La Crescenta business had gone into a store in Fountain Valley and attempted to return the items purchased in La Crescenta; it was denied. There was another attempt, this time by a man, to return the same merchandise to a store in Signal Hill, and again it was denied.

The initial incident occurred at 6:27 p.m.

Oct. 7

3100 block of El Caminito Street in La Crescenta, a package was stolen from the front of a home between 1:40 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Big Tujunga Canyon Road/Fall Canyon in the Angeles National Forest, a man reported that he parked his vehicle at the location and went for a hike. When he returned he found that both of the front windows of his vehicle had been smashed, the interior had been ransacked and several items were stolen.

The theft occurred at 3:16 p.m.
